About Prop 65 (In very simple terms)
Prop 65 (also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) only applies to goods sold in the state of California. It requires a warning to be placed on products that may contain even a very low level of any one of over 800 chemicals deemed by the state of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. Many of these chemicals may be naturally occurring in our environment (air, water and soil) and our food. A full list may be viewed on the oehha website maintained by the state of California.
The levels required to create a warning are often up to 1000 times more stringent than the level approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The “clear and reasonable warning” required by Prop 65 is “This product may contain a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
Health By Design is fully compliant with manufacturing and safety guidelines set by the FDA. We do not intentionally add any reportable chemicals or heavy metals to our products. The warning required by Prop 65 does not automatically mean a product is unsafe. Our priority is to always give you a safe and efficacious product.
